The weather on Thursday and Friday was too bad to mount a search. The plane was finally found yesterday. The pilot had apparently attempted to land on the lake ice, but had broken through. His passenger, a Michigan state police sergeant, was able to get out and swim to shore, but died of exposure; divers are searching the lake for the pilot. Four rangers are on the island assisting state police and sheriff's officers in the search.
