Day/date: June 10, 1987 FIELD INCIDENT REPORT Log number: 87-94A Date/time of incident: 6/9, afternoon Date/time received: 6/10, 1:00pm Park: 115 miles South of Location: near Gibson Reservoir Glacier National Park Reported by: Chuck Sigler, Chief Ranger, Glacier National Park Received by: Melissa Warner, Division of Ranger Activities, WASO Summary: Followup Report Wreckage of the Bell Long Ranger helicopter was found yesterday, 6/9, by a USAF plane. Location of the wreckage is approximately 60 miles north and west of Great Falls, MT, and approximately 115 miles south of the park. Since Monday the search had been conducted by the Montana State Aeronautics Division. The ship apparently hit a mountain ridge, and burst into flame upon impact. There were no survivors. The two physicians on board were the medical directors for the emergency rooms of two hospitals in Great Falls. Also killed in the crash were a nurse and the pilot. The vehicle swerved and he was thrown to the pavement. The family rushed him to the hospital. J.M.L. died of massive head injuries on June 9th. Persons involved: Name Address DOB or age J.M.L.
