The rafts collided and dumped three boaters into river. Two were recovered three miles downstream the third could not be located. The remaining boaters searched for three days for the missing individual. This was the first time he had been camping. He had only light clothes, no food, and no camping gear. The group decided, after three days of searching, to hike out from the area of Gateway Knob to report the incident. The missing boater, L.S., was found eight days after the incident by rangers on river patrol with wardens from Kluane National Park, Canada. L.S. was transported to Silver Creek by raft and later evacuated to Haines Junction by helicopter. He did not require hospitalization. Persons involved: Name Address DOB or age L.S. The vehicle crashed and burned, killing the driver and his passenger instantly. The bodies were not burned, possibly indicating they were thrown clear of the vehicle upon impact. Clover, SC 18 FIELD INCIDENT REPORT Incident type: Hanging Victim Found in Park Log number: 87-152 Date/time of incident: found 7/5, 3:50pm Date/time received: 7/8, 10am Park: NCP East, NCR Location: Randle Circle, wooded area Reported by: Dave Blackburn, NCR Received by: Melissa Warner, WASO Summary: Two citizens were walking in the wooded area of Randle Circle, a park site within National Capital Parks - East, when they sighted a human body hanging from a small tree. They notified Metro Police, who notified USPP. The body is that of a male, approximately 25 years of age, attached to the tree by a strap which was tied around the neck.
