Day/date: September 3, 1987 FIELD INCIDENT REPORT Incident type: Fatality - Missing Hiker Discovered Log number: 87-222 Date/time of incident: 9/1 Date/time received: 9/3, 11am Park: Glacier N P Location: 2 miles north of Many Glacier Reported by: Chuck Sigler, CR (through Carolyn Kershaw) Received by: Melissa Warner, WASO Summary: Hikers discovered the remains of a human body identified to be those of G.G., a hiker who had been missing since July 25 of this year. The body was found 1/2 mile north of Natahki Lake. The remains appear to have been disturbed and buried by bears. No autopsy will be performed. The area is described to have cliffs where G.G. may have fallen. A camera with 12 exposed frames was found with the remains. The film is to be developed in an attempt to determine what may have taken place. Next of kin have been notified. G.G. was employed as a night auditor at the Swift Current Inn within the park and had reportedly gone hiking without registering for a permit. A board of inquiry will be held at a later date. Madison, WI 2/4/58 FIELD INCIDENT REPORT Incident type: Fatality - Motor Vehicle Accident Log number: 87-223 Date/time of incident: 8/21, 12:01am Date/time received: 9/3 Park: Yosemite N P Location: Arch Rock, Rt # 140 Reported by: Roger Rudolph, CR (through Ann Betus WRO) Received by: Melissa Warner, WASo Summary: E.F. was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed through a rock wall on the river side of the highway. The vehicle fell 200' into the river canyon. E.F. was successfully extricated by park rangers who worked for 2 hours to free him from the wreckage. E.F. was transported to the Valley Medical Center in Fresno where he was admitted in critical condition. He died on August 30th at the Doctor's Hospital in Modesto.
