Summary:
Park ranger Dan Boling discovered approximately 50 illegal aliens as he was
performing routine patrol at the 10 mile marker down island. The aliens,
along with a smuggler were apparently waiting for vehicles to transport them
out of the park. Boling called for backup. Three other rangers responded and
Border Patrol was notified. Rangers detained 40 of the aliens for 2 hours
until the Border Patrol arrived. Rangers and Border Patrol are searching the
island today for those who fled the scene. Possibly 10 other aliens are at
large. No injuries were reported.
