Summary:
G.S., 53 from Crane Lake Minnesota was killed while driving a
snowmobile within the Park. Mr G.S., with several other people and
machines was returning home and was using the frozen/snow covered lakes
as a pathway. Mr. G.S. missed a crucial turn and exit from the lake and
hit a rocky part of the lake's shoreline. Members of the party put him
onto another machine and proceeded for assistance. All members of the
family were notified immediately. It is possible that Mr. G.S. was going
faster than his headlights would allow or was "outrunning his headlights".
Mr G.S. apparently was an experienced snowmobile driver and a local
and friend of the area.
