OFFICE NOTES

1) The Department may be putting its implementation of the National Incident
Based Reporting System on hold. We will advise you of further developments
as soon as we hear definite word. (Andy Ringgold, RAD, WASO).

2) Lew Waller (ARO) and Andy will be briefing the Deputy Assistant Secretary
on same-day airborne hunting issues in Alaska today. (Andy Ringgold).

TRANSMITTALS

Memorandum: "Federal Employees Liability Reform and Tort Compensation Act of
1988", signed on February 7th by the Acting Associate Director, Operations,
and sent yesterday to all Regional Directors. Transmits copy of the act to
the regions.

Memorandum: "Training: Introduction to Fire Management for Managers", signed
on February 7th by the Acting Associate Director, Operations, and sent
yesterday to Regional Directors in WRO, RMRO and SWRO. Requests assistance
of several managers to assist in development of training program.

STAFF STATUS

Loach in Marana, Dabney in Seattle, Hodapp at the Grand Canyon, Healy at
FLETC, Farabee at Cape Hatteras.
