INCIDENTS
89-32 - Suitland Parkway - Follow-up on Rescue from Burning Car
Office Garrison received second degree burns on his right hand
during the attempt to rescue the second person from the burning
vehicle. Garrison was treated at a local hospital and released.
The person he was trying to save died in the fire; the other two
occupants are in the hospital in serious condition. (RAD, NCR)

- National Situation:
Except for prescribed burning in Big Cypress, very little fire
activity was reported Servicewide during the month of February.
Fire danger is moderate to high in the Southeast, with fires
reported on state and private land in southern Florida.

OFFICE NOTES
1) Dave Butts, chief of the Branch of Fire Management, now has
his office here in Ranger Activities, effective this morning. He
can be reached at 343-6046.
2) Jon Anglin will be leaving Ranger Activities on March 10th and
taking a position as a park ranger in the Palisades District at
C&O Canal. We will be recruiting for a replacement in the near
future.
3) Don Castleberry concludes his two-month detail to WASO as
acting associate director, operations, today.
STAFF STATUS
Dabney on annual leave; Ringgold acting division chief. Kreis on
lieu, Farabee on leave.
