CC: RAD Information Net
Day/date: Friday, March 24, 1989
INCIDENTS
89-54 - New River Gorge - Follow-up on Body Recovery
Investigators have identified the body of the man pulled from the New River
on March 18th as that of R.H., 51, of Thornville, Ohio. R.H.
had last been seen in Oak Hill, West Virginia, on January 8th. He was
involved in a motor vehicle accident that evening, and was reported to have
been highly intoxicated by the mechanic at the garage where the vehicle was
taken. It is not known how he got into the river. The medical examiner has
determined that the cause of death was drowning, not foul play as had been
originally suspected. (Rick Brown, Acting CR, NERI, through Steve Alscher,
RAD/MARO).
89-55 - Capitol Reef - Follow-up on Search for Ted Bundy Victim
The bones found a mile from the park boundary on the 17th have turned out to
be the remains of animals, not those of N.W., one of serial killer
Ted Bundy's victims. Prior to his execution, Bundy had told investigators
that he had buried N.W. near the park. (Associated Press).
FIRE ACTIVITY
No fire activity of any kind has been reported in the past 24 hours.

balloons? Not launched or landed balloons, but tethered balloons. We're
working on a query on this and would like to consult with a park that's
dealt with the issue before. Please call Butch Farabee at FTS 343-4188.
