INCIDENTS
No new incident reports received.
FIRE ACTIVITY
1) FIRE SITUATION
a) NATIONAL PARK SERVICE
* Spring Creek Fire - Gateway - 5 - 6 acres:
The Type I Team assigned to the fire is currently developing recommendations
for suppression actions for the park. Suspected toxic smoke continues to
cause problems in adjacent housing areas. No estimate of containment.
b) OTHER AGENCY
* Pin Hook Fire - State of Florida/NF's in Florida - 13,700 acres:
A Type I Team has been assigned and has been joined in a unified command
with the Florida department of forestry. Containment was predicted for
Monday evening.
* Perfect Fire - Olympic National Forest - 300 acres:
There's no new information on the fire.
2) FIRE ACTIVITY - 16 fires for 191 acres reported on Monday; the year-to.
date total is 17,157 fires for 413,524 acres.
3) ANALYSIS - No significant fire activity reported.
4) PROGNOSIS - The potential for fire activity continues in the southwest,
where fire dangers remain very high to extreme.

OFFICE NOTES
1) NOTICE: There'll be no morning report tomorrow. Reports will continue on
Thursday, May 4th.
2) A number of people have experienced backorder problems with stetsons and
twill pants from R&R Uniforms. In both cases, R&R has had significant
problems in getting subcontractors to provide the items until recently.
Stetsons are expected to arrive this week, and R&R will begin filling
backorders immediately. Twill pants should be in on May 15th. (Bill
Halainen, RADAJASO).
3) Albright will be conducting a workshop on the Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (DARE) program from June 19th to the 30th. The workshop will
train protection rangers in presenting the DARE program to local schools.
The primary emphasis of this highly successful and nationally recognized
program is teaching kids how to resist drugs. Descriptive materials will be
sent to parks upon request. A commitment of a minimum of four hours/week
during the school year is required. Albright is funding the course. The
program code is 3154; the title code is DARE WKSHGP INSTR. One page
nomination forms should be sent in regional priority order to Albright no
later than May 22nd. Telephone nominations will not be accepted. For

STAFF STATUS
