INCIDENTS

89-362 - White House (District of Columbia) - Civil Disobedience

On the morning of the 15th, the Washington Area Labor Committee on Central
America and the Caribbean engaged in an act of civil disobedience at the
northwest gate to the White House. The committee had obtained a permit to
hold a demonstration in front of the White House, and about 30 demonstrators
rallied there at 9 a.m. that morning. Eighteen members of this group then
sat down in front of the gate. Their permit was revoked, for violation of
its terms, the protestors were warned to disperse, and all 18 were arrested
for demonstrating after revocation of their permit when they subsequently
failed to comply with the dispersal order. They were transported to the
USPP facility in Anacostia, where they were processed and released, with
citations for their violations. (CompuServe message from Capt. Dave
Blackburn, RAD/NCRO, 10:45 EST, 12/18).

89-363 - Southeast Regional Office (Georgia) - Bomb

The regional office was evacuated yesterday due to the discovery of a mail
bomb in the building's mail room. The bomb, which was intended for an
official of the 11th Circuit Court and was related the bomb which killed
Judge Vance on Saturday, was removed from the building and subsequently
disarmed. (Telephone report from SERO through WASO Public Affairs; press
reports).

be used in lieu of 1990 Eagles. There are to be no exceptions. (Wes Kreis,
RAD/WASO).

2) R&R Uniforms has instituted a toll-free number that NPS employees can
call during normal working hours in Nashville. That number is 1-800-448-
7968. (Bill Halainen, RAD/WASO).
