INCIDENTS
90-79 - Rock Creek Park (D.C.) - MVA with Fatality
Just after 1 a.m. on the 25th, Park Police officers were notified of a fatal
one-car accident which had occurred on Glover Road North in the park. A
1986 Toyota van was headed southbound when it rounded a curve, crossed the
road, then went off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was killed in
the accident. A preliminary investigation indicates that the cause of the
accident was excessive speed. (CompuServe message from Capt. Dave

3) FIRE NARRATIVES
a) NATIONAL PARK SERVICE:
ATV Fire - Big Cypress -
The fire, which is thought to have been started by an ATV, is burning
in open prairie. Although uncontrolled, the favorable wind direction,
high humidity and natural barriers make the outlook favorable for
containing the fire. Resources currently committed are all local and
include two helicopters, a single-engine air tanker, two buggies and
a hand crew.
b) OTHER AGENCIES:

4) FIRE ACTIVITY - 195 fires for 1,066 acres on Tuesday.
5) ANALYSIS - Scattered rain and higher humidity has slowed fire
activity in Minnesota.
6) PROGNOSIS - Favorable weather conditions forecasted for the next
couple of days should continue to slow fire activity in Minnesota.

1) Jim Radney of RAD/SWRO is in an intensive care unit in Santa Fe with an
aneurysm that hospitalized him this past Sunday afternoon. He is scheduled
for surgery today. Get well wishes can be sent to him through his office.
