INCIDENTS

90-80 - Natchez Trace (Mississippi/Tennessee) - MVA with Fatality

On April 25th, J.B., 36, of Verona, Mississippi, was killed when the
vehicle she was driving left the road near Mile Post 252 and struck a tree.
Three passengers in the vehicle were hospitalized. Preliminary
investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a cause of the accident.

RESOURCE PRCOTECTION/MANAGEMENT

Mammoth Cave (Kentucky) - The park recently held a public ceremony in which
ten representatives of various governmental agencies made presentations on
programs concerning the protection of the Mammoth Cave region. The ceremony
marked the beginning of the Mammoth Cave Water Quality Special Project,
which will be a local, state and federal initiative that will address non-
point source pollution problems in the cave area. Participants included Ms.
Lajuana Wilcher, the assistant administrator for the ERA'S Office of Water.
