3) FIRE NARRATIVES
a) NATIONAL PARK SERVICE:
- Gator Bay (Everglades) - Monitoring continues with the aid of one
helicopter. The fire is under control and well-contained by
mangroves.
b) OTHER AGENCIES:
- Big Fire (Lincoln NF) - The fire jumped fire lines on Friday as
a result of high winds. Those winds continued to gust throughout
the weekend, reaching peaks as high as 60 mph. According to press
accounts, 700 firefighters were working the blaze as of yesterday
afternoon. A Type I team has been assigned to the fire.
4) FIRE ACTIVITY - 44 fires for 17 acres reported in 24 hours ending
Sunday at 1230 MDT.
5) FIRE DANGERS - The following parks are experiencing high to extreme fire
danger this morning:

6) ANALYSIS - Southwestern areas continue to report very high to extreme
fire indices, with some lightning activity. NPS areas report the
following:
* Everglades - The park is at MC 4. Conditions remain extremely dry.
* Big Bend - The fire danger remains extreme, and forecasters are
not calling for any rain in the near future.
* Carlsbad - The park was at MC 4 on Friday.
* Guadalupe - Nine firefighters have been committed as part of the
Carlsbad interagency crew and have been assigned to the Big Fire.
7) PROGNOSIS - Continued activity is expected in Florida and the Southwest.
