FIRE ACTIVITY

1) PREPAREDNESS LEVEL - II

One geographic area experiencing high fire danger. Numerous Class A, B, and
C fires occurring and a potential exists for escapes to larger (project)
fires. Minimal mobilization of resources from other geographic areas
occurring. The potential exists for mobilizing additional resources from
other geographic areas.

3) NPS NARRATIVES -

-  Everglades (Florida) - The Pumpsite Fire has been contained.

-  Crater Lake (Oregon) - The Sharp Peak Fire was started by a lightning
strike and has been contained.

4) NATIONAL FIRE ACTIVITY - 255 fires for 2,268 acres in 24-hour period
ending yesterday morning.

7) ANALYSIS - Warmer temperatures and lightning activity have increased the
fire activity in the Great Basin, Nevada and the Northwest. Very high
to extreme fire indices are being reported in California, Nevada and
eastern Montana.

8) PROGNOSIS - Fire activity is expected to continue in the Great Basin
and Southeast.
