The Shirttail Fire was among them, and by Friday had burned into the park. The area around park headquarters was burned out that night. Snow began falling on the fire on Sunday. There have been few problems, and no structures have burned. As of 0700 EDT today, the fire had burned 1,080 acres in the park. It will be contained by this morning, and demobilization will begin later today. b) OTHER AGENCIES: * Horse Creek Fire (Black Hills NF) - The fire started on Friday when unexpected strong winds rekindled a prescribed burn from the previous day. It should be contained today. 4) ANALYSIS - Lightning activity, coupled with high winds and unseasonably warm temperatures, brought significant fire activity to the Black Hills. 5) PROGNOSIS - Fire activity is expected to continue in the Black Hills. April 7, 1928 - Rangers John Bingaman and W.M. Raymann rescued two women from the Ledge Trail in Yosemite Valley.
