RANGER ACTIVITIES DIVISION MORNING REPORT Attention: Directorate Regional and Park Chief Rangers, USPP, BIFC, FLETC CC: RAD Information Net Day/date: Monday, April 22, 1991 INCIDENTS 91-118 - Cape Cod (Massachusetts) - Conviction on Drug Arrest On the afternoon of August 17, 1990, rangers arrested N.C.H., 29, of New York City, for possession and distribution of hallucinogenic psilocybin mushrooms, a controlled substance. On April 2nd, N.C.H. was convicted in state court of a Class C misdemeanor and received jail time and a $500 fine. He also lost his drivers license for a period of two years, which is mandatory in any drug-related conviction in Massachusetts. [CompuServe message from Dennis Burnett, CACO, 4/19] 91-119 - Amistad (Texas) - Attempted Suicide Ranger Garretz discovered V.M., 50, of Del Rio, Texas, unconscious on the floor of the comfort station at Pecos early on the morning of the 19th. An empty 1.75 liter vodka bottle was found on the floor next to her along with another full, unopened bottle. A variety of prescription tranquilizers were found in her purse, but it is unknown if she took any. Garretz initiated life support measures and was soon joined and assisted by EMT's. V.M. was transported to a medical facility in Del Rio, and had not regained consciousness at the time of the report. Her BAC was measured at .75. Investigation revealed that V.M. has a prior history of suicide attempts and was under local psychiatric care. [Telefax from Cliff Chetwin, RAD/SWRO, 4/19] RESOURCE MANAGEMENT No reports today. April 21, 1937 - The first SAR-related deaths in the new Boulder Dam Recreation Area now Lake Mead were recorded when three young people from Las Vegas disappeared on the lake while sailing. Seventy-five CCC workers were employed in the subsequent and fruitless multiday search of the lake's shores.
