RANGER ACTIVITIES DIVISION MORNING REPORT Attention: Directorate Regional and Park Chief Rangers, USPP, BIFC, FLETC CC: RAD Information Net Day/date: Wednesday, May 22, 1991 INCIDENTS 91-168 - Buffalo (Arkansas) - Rescue R.R., 28, of Springfield, Missouri, was hiking with friends near Hemmed-in-Hollow on the afternoon of the 18th when he lost his footing on the edge of a bluff and fell 50 feet into a drainage. Members of his party contacted rangers at Kyles campground, and a rescue operation was immediately begun in conjunction with local paramedics, volunteers and SAR and rescue teams. Rescuers hiked in four miles to reach Robinson. Paramedics and park rangers provided initial emergency care, then prepared R.R. for a two-mile carryout to a helicopter landing zone. The helicopter transported R.R. to a regional hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition with multiple fractures of the left leg and arm, a punctured lung and internal injuries.
