RANGER ACTIVITIES DIVISION MORNING REPORT Attention: Directorate Regional and Park Chief Rangers, USPP, BIFC, FLETC Ranger Activities Division Information Network Day/Date: Tuesday, November 26, 1991 INCIDENTS 91-634 - Organ Pipe Cactus (Arizona) - Marijuana Seizure On the evening of November 24th, rangers received a report of suspicious persons crossing the Mexican border into the United States through the park and began tracking and surveillance operations in conjunction with the Border Patrol in an effort to interecept them. Around 11:00 a.m. the following morning, a team of rangers was patrolling a dry wash in front of the park's visitor center - a known pick-up point - when they came upon ten bales of marijuana stashed near the highway. The marijuana, which weighed 200 pounds and is valued at $200,000, was packaged in burlap bags and ready for shipment. This is the sixth major seizure rangers have participated in during the past month.
