Day/Date: Tuesday, March 31, 1992
INCIDENTS
92-96 - Theodore Roosevelt (North Dakota) - Attempted Suicide
While hiking in the backcountry in the park's North Unit on the morning of
the 26th, B.F., 32, a Swedish national, employed his hunting knife
to cut his left wrist in a suicide attempt. When that failed, he decided to
instead seek help and hiked about two miles to a campground telephone.
Ranger Shirley Hoh and a McKenzie County sheriff responded. B.F. was
transported to a local hospital for treatment, and is currently being held
for observation. [Telefax from Bob Powell, THRO, 3/30]
