INCIDENTS

92-127 - Everglades (Florida) - Illegal Immigrants

Last week, Border Patrol agents in southern Florida netted 177 illegal
immigrants - the largest number ever taken in a single raid - along the
boundary and near the main entrance to the park. Several of the illegal
farm workers ran into the park in an effort to escape, but rangers directed
the agents to them. The workers were picking tomatoes in large field
outside the park owned by Stano Farms. The immigrants were from Mexico,
Guatemala and El Salvador. [Telefax from Mark Lewis, LES, EVER, 4/18]
