INCIDENTS

93-566 - Jefferson National Expansion (Missouri) - Follow-up on Homicide

Two of the three men accused of the fatal shooting of A.K. in her car
in the Arch parking garage last August have pled guilty to second degree
murder. The two men - H.C. and M.S. - could get life in
prison when sentenced on March 4th. R.C., the alleged triggerman
in the killing, is scheduled to go on trial in February. As part of a plea
bargain agreement, both H.C. and Stroud agreed to testify against R.C..
H.C. served as a lookout and M.S. stayed with the get-away car while R.C.
robbed the victims and shot Knopp. [Deryl Stone, CR, JEFF, 12/22]

93-864 - San Juan Island (Washington) - Poaching

The county sheriff's office advised the park of possible hunting activity at
American Camp's South Beach at 3 a.m. on December 22nd after a local
resident reported hearing gunshots in the area. The responding deputies and
ranger found J.S. and E.G. of Seattle sitting in a van
containing 14 gutted rabbit carcasses; another dozen were found on the
ground a short distance away. Both men were taken into custody by the
deputies and charged with violating state hunting laws. The ranger also
cited the men for illegal hunting (36 CFR 2.2) and seized the rabbits, a
knife and four shotgun shells as evidence. E.G. was subsequently arrested
on a felony warrant. A search of the van and surrounding area failed to
turn up any firearms. The pair had been approached in the park the day
before and informed of regulations prohibiting hunting in the park. [Bill
Gleason, CR, SAJH, 12/22]
