INCIDENTS
94-661 - Coronado (Arizona) - Drug Seizure
On the morning of December 5th, a school bus driver who had entered the park to
turn her bus around observed a vehicle abandoned in the roadway. She reported
the vehicle to the sheriff's office; they in turn notified the park. Rangers
found an older model vehicle abandoned in the roadway with the keys in the
ignition and the engine running. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle,
they came upon four bundles of suspected marijuana in the trunk. The marijuana
weighed just over 116 pounds. The case has been turned over to Customs for
further action. [Bill Smith, Ranger, CORO, 12/6]
94-662 - New River Gorge (West Virginia) - Drug Seizure and Arrest
On November 18th, rangers and offices from the regional drug enforcement task
force arrested G.W., 34, of Beckley, West Virginia, for possession with
intent to deliver and sale and transfer of marijuana. During the subsequent
search of G.W.'s residence, two pounds of pressed marijuana was found along
with four pounds of marijuana seeds and four firearms. During an interview
with G.W., he admitted to growing marijuana in and around the park and also
on a farm he owns in Tennessee. [Christopher Schrader, CI, NERI, 12/6]
