INCIDENTS

94-690 - Natchez Trace (Mississippi/Alabama/Tennessee) - MVA with Fatality

On the afternoon of December 25th, a vehicle being driven by J.R.,
79, of Jackson, Mississippi, went off the west side of the parkway, descended a
slope, and struck three trees. J.R. was killed, and his wife was injured
and subsequently hospitalized. Observations, a witness statement and physical
evidence suggest that the driver fell asleep. Contact damage to the vehicle
indicated that this was a very high speed crash. [Gary Mason, Acting CR, NATR,
12/27]

94-691 - Natchez Trace (Mississippi/Alabama/Tennessee) - MVA with Fatality

C.J., 29, of Clinton, Mississippi, was heading northbound on the
parkway on December 28th when his vehicle crossed over the southbound lane,
went off the road, and hit a tree. C.J. was transported to the University
Medical Center in Jackson, where he later died of his injuries. The cause of
the accident is unknown, but it is possible that C.J. was fatigued and fell
asleep. [Tim Francis, Acting CR, NATR, 12/29]
