INCIDENTS
95-184 - Denali (Alaska) - Aircraft Crash; Two Fatalities
J.B., 35, of Peters Creek, and C.R., 34, of Trapper
Creek, were killed on the morning of Saturday, April 15th, when their Cessna
180 crashed near Anderson Pass. A search for the plane was begun after an ELT
signal was picked up from the plane. Although severe weather turned rangers
back that afternoon, searchers in the park's Lama helicopter, a Pavehawk
helicopter and an Alaska National Guard C-130 located the wreckage of the plane
at about 6,500 feet on the Northeast Fork of the Eldridge Glacier on Sunday.
The bodies of the victims were recovered. The accident is under investigation
by FAA and NTSB. [Ken Kehrer, CR, DENA, 4/27]
95-185 - Fort Washington (Maryland) - Burglary; Theft of Government Vehicle
During the early morning hours of April 27th, burglars forcibly entered the
fort by breaking several windows, then stole several pieces of equipment. No
historic or period items were stolen or damaged. A government vehicle was also
stolen from the park that night, and two others were damaged. Park Police
officers are investigating. [Bill Lynch, NCRO, 4/28]
