INCIDENTS

95-216 - National Capital Parks Central (D.C.) - Shooting Incident

Just after midnight on May 12th, a uniformed Federal Protective Service officer
was accosted by an individual while in John Marshall Park.  During the
encounter, the officer shot the subject once in the chest with his service
revolver.  The victim is currently in critical condition in a city hospital. 
Park Police criminal investigators are conducting an investigation into the
shooting.  [Bill Lynch, NCRO, 5/12]

OPERATIONAL NOTES

1) Horse Patrol Information - Shenandoah has worked up an agreement whereby
Aramark, the park concessioner, will provide horses for park patrols.  The park
is accordingly interested in acquiring horse patrol manuals, training manuals,
SOPs, and other pertinent documents from parks with horse patrol programs. 
Shenandoah would appreciate assistance from any park or US Park Police unit
willing to provide the above information, help them develop their operation,
provide a training opportunity for a Shenandoah ranger, or send a senior horse
patrol person to Shenandoah.  Written materials should be sent to Liz Smith,

2) Hepatitis B Vaccine - The park clinic at Yosemite has 40 extra doses of
Hepatitis B vaccine which will expire in July.  If you're interested in
