All flags are to lowered to half staff this morning in commemoration of
National Peace Officers' Memorial Day. Flags will return to full staff
tomorrow morning.
INCIDENTS
98-207 - East Potomac Park/Rock Creek Parkway (DC) - Pursuit
On May 12th, Arlington County police offiers pursued a stolen vehicle into
East Potomac Park. Park Police officers joined the pursuit. The vehicle
struck a Park Police cruiser as it left the park, then continued up Rock
Creek Parkway. The driver subsequently lost control and struck a southbound
vehicle. All three occupants of the stolen car fled on foot; the operator
and one passenger were captured, but the third person remains at large.

CURRENT SITUATION
Only minor initial attack activity was reported yesterday. Several areas in
the Southwest are reporting very high to extreme fire indices.

OPERATIONAL NOTES
6c Funding - WASO Budget will distribute some 6c funds later this fiscal
year, once parks have identified their actual needs for additional 6c
funding. A budget call requesting this information will go the parks in the
very near future. Although it may take awhile for actual funding advices to
reach the parks, the additional law enforcement pay costs stemming from
institution of the new seasonal park ranger 6c-designated position
descriptions WILL be made available to parks before the close of the fiscal
year. WASO Budget will distribute 6c funds into park base accounts for
seasonal AND permanent positions through the regular fund allocation process
