On this day in 1949, San Juan National Historic Site in Puerto Rico
was established by order of the Secretary of the Interior under the
authority of a cooperative agreement with the Secretary of the Army.
The site includes the old Spanish forts El Morro, San Cristobal and El
Catuelo, the city walls, and the San Juan Gate. The fortifications
were officially designated as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1984.

  INCIDENTS

00-043 - Point Reyes NS (CA) - Carjacking

On Saturday, February 12th, C.M., a German national, was out
for a walk on the Abbott's Lagoon trail when she was contacted by a
17- to 18-year-old male. After a brief exchange, the male pulled a
gun, pointed it at C.M., and demanded her keys. The suspect returned
to the lot and drove away in her 1999 Dodge Neon rental vehicle,
leaving his own vehicle behind. Investigation of that car revealed
that it had been carjacked by two men in Oregon, one of them 17, the
other 18. The two men are also wanted for a string of armed robberies
and a shoot-out in Wilsonville, Oregon, and are considered armed and
dangerous. [Cliff Spencer, SPR, PORE, 2/13]
