Course: RIVER MANAGEMENT TOOLS FOR A NEW CENTURY
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Details: A field-oriented river management workshop designed to
provide on the ground tools for managing rivers into
the next century. Participate in case studies, share

river-oriented organizations, and those who care about

Course: THIRD BIENNIAL FIRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE SCIENCE
CONFERENCE
Location: Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY
Details: The conference will focus on 13 different research and
inventory projects conducted at the park by the NPS,
universities and other agencies. The objective is to
have attendees gain a better understanding of the
goals and results to date from each research
initiative and for the researchers to present the
information to their peers and the general public. No

Course: CERTIFIED NPS STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTER I AND II
Location: Yellowstone NP, WY
Details: Combines previous NPS Level I and Level II structural
fire suppression courses. Instruction includes lecture
and audio-visual materials, but maintains an emphasis
on individual and engine company skills in fire
assessment and offensive, defensive and initial attack
procedures. Training will also include auto
extrication and treatment of the critically injured.

Course: INTERPRETIVE TRAINING INSTITUTE
Location: Appalachian Mountain Club Pinkham Notch Visitor
Center, Gorham, NH
Details: The Interpretive Training Institute is a cooperative
program which combines the resources and expertise of
several agencies to provide a unique learning
opportunity for natural, cultural and historical
interpreters. These agencies include the National Park
Service, White Mountain National Forest, Appalachian
Mountain Club, NH Fish and Game, Army Corps of
Engineers, NH State Parks, and the Metropolitan
District Commission. There will be two tracks - one
for new interpreters and one for advanced
interpreters.

Course: LAND RECORDS AND GENEALOGY SYMPOSIUM

Details: The symposium will feature nearly 20 presentations on
various topics related to land records and their
research and genealogical value and will address
future plans for the park, which include acquiring

stored at the park and made available to the public

Course: HOMICIDAL DROWNING AND UNDERWATER INVESTIGATIONS
Location: Delaware Water Gap NRA, NJ/PA

team members to better investigate and manage
drownings, a significant number of which involve foul

responsibilities for drownings and NPS divers and dive

Course: NATIONAL WILDERNESS STEWARDSHIP TRAINING

Details: This training has been designed for senior managers
and emphasizes interpreting and translating the
Wilderness Act and agency policies into principles
