This calendar appears every other Monday as an addendum to the Morning
Report.
Entries are listed no sooner than FOUR months before an event, except
in cases in which registration dates close much earlier. Brevity in

employees to enhance their interpretive effectiveness
in meeting the NPS mission.

Course: LAND RECORDS AND GENEALOGY SYMPOSIUM
Location: Beatrice, NE
Details: The symposium will feature nearly 20 presentations on
various topics related to land records and their
research and genealogical value and will address
future plans for the park, which include acquiring
copies of two million homestead records that will be
stored at the park and made available to the public
for research. Registration is $39 for one day, $69 for
both days. Open to the public.

Course: OSHA 226: PERMIT REQUIRED CONFINED SPACE ENTRY

Details: The course is geared to maintenance employees and
supervisors, but LE rangers and resource managers are

a required safety and loss control competency.

Details: Approved NPS seasonal law enforcement training
program, run by Steve Dodd, formerly director of a
similar program at Cuyahoga Community College. Two
semester program, concluding on May 10, 2002.

Course: HOMICIDAL DROWNING AND UNDERWATER INVESTIGATIONS
Location: Delaware Water Gap NRA, NJ/PA
Details: The training course will enable investigators and dive
team members to better investigate and manage
drownings, a significant number of which involve foul
play. Open to commissioned rangers with investigative
responsibilities for drownings and NPS divers and dive
tenders. No tuition or training material costs.
