Assistance Sought in Extending 1039 Hour Waiver
December 31st marks the end of the waiver period established by OPM for the continued employment of temporary employees. With hurricane recovery work continuing, the NPS Human Resources Office is making another attempt to extend the existing wavier. To continue the waiver of the 1039 hour limit, Joanne Witherow of WASO HR needs the following information:
Number of employees to be extended (ranger, maintenance, etc.)
Where the employee is needed
Why the employee is needed
The requirement for an SF-50 is being waived at this time. The existing OPM waiver applied to Hurricane Katrina, but the extension will include all hurricane impacted areas. Please share this with your parks and have them respond to Joanne Witherow or Dennis Burnett via email by close of business today, December 14th. This request also went to regional human resource managers on their regularly scheduled conference call yesterday afternoon. [Dennis Burnett, NPS Law Enforcement Program Administrator]
