Flags will return to full staff on Wednesday. INCIDENTS Martin Luther King, Jr. NHS Update on Funeral Services for Coretta Scott King The Eastern Incident Management Team (Gordon Wissinger, IC) has been assigned to the park to assist with the funeral services for Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Uniformed personnel have been conducting fixed-post and roving security patrols throughout the park over the past several days. The IMT is working closely with the City of Atlanta and other participating agencies regarding the coordination, staffing, and management of memorial events, including increased security, barricade closures, smooth visitor flow patterns, and facilitating parking and access for dignitaries. [Michelle Fidler, Eastern IMT Information Officer] Natchez Trace Parkway Suicide from Highway Bridge On February 2nd, NPS employees who were traveling through the Birdsong Hollow area saw a vehicle parked on the parkway bridge that spans Highway 96. A man who was sitting on the railing of the bridge jumped from it as they watched. The employees were unable to intervene due to the quick sequence of events and their distance from him. The 54-year-old victim was a resident of Nashville, Tennessee. His death has been ruled a suicide. The primary duty of the supervisory exhibits specialist is to supervise the staff of the structures preservation branch, including preservation/restoration (carpenters, exhibits specialists, masons) and utility (electrician, plumber) workers and the work they perform.
