This position, which has day to day oversight of regional programs relating to law enforcement, emergency medical services, search and rescue, special park uses, special event teams and uniforms, was vacated by Mark Foust, who relocated to Glacier National Park as chief ranger in early February. Billy Shott is a ten year veteran of the NPS and currently is a senior program manager at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia, where he is responsible for managing the day to day activities of NPS employees assigned to train at FLETC. In addition, he has, among other duties, served as the primary coordinator for national field certification and instruction of five disciplines (firearms, defensive tactics, use of force/nlta, driver, and physical fitness) and over 500 advanced topic instructors. Previous supervisory and field park ranger assignments in the visitor use and resource protection arena have included Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NV), Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (UT), Denali National Park (AK), Death Valley National Park (CA). In addition, Billy has had extensive incident management experience with the Alaska, Pacific West and Central Incident Management teams and is a former member of the Pacific West SETT.
