OTHER NEWS Other news from today's edition of InsideNPS, the National Park Service's home page: Hawaii Volcanoes - Closures put in place in some areas to protect endangered nene geese, now nesting. Fire and Aviation Management - The nomination period for positions on DOI's national burned area emergency response (BAER) teams is now open and closes on February 14th. Director's Office - This past November, Director Mary Bomar made a trip from Main Interior over to 1201 Eye Street in Washington to visit the WASO staff housed in that facility, meeting with just about everyone in the building. Images of that visit are now available on-line. Glacier - The U.S. and Canadian governments may have to intervene to stop a proposed coal mine north of Glacier National Park that critics fear would pollute water flowing into the park and the Flathead River. Intermountain Region - Lisa Carrico, a 22-year veteran of the National Park Service, has been named superintendent at Tumacacori NHS. Carrico will assume her new duties in mid-April, replacing former superintendent Ann Rasor, who retired in December. Rocky Mountain - The park is recruiting for a GS-11 supervisory park ranger who will serve as the park's SAR coordinator.
