NATIONAL PARK SERVICE MORNING REPORT Wednesday, June 13, 2007 =============================================================================================================== INCIDENTS Blue Ridge Parkway Arrest For Arson And Attempted Murder In the early hours of June 5th, the park received a report of an arson fire in a employee dorm room at the Pisgah Inn (a park concession). A man had broken in a window, splashed gasoline inside a room, thrown in the gas container, then ignited the fuel. Four people were in the room at the time of the attack. Concession employees took rapid action with fire extinguishers and limited the damage to the contents of the room. Fortunately, no one was injured. The investigation led to a suspect, a former boyfriend of one of the people in the room, who was later located in another county. He has been taken into custody for arson, with other charges likely. The investigation was conducted cooperatively by law enforcement rangers, an NPS special agent, a state arson investigator, and the US Attorney's Office.
