M.B.'s son was securely fastened into his baby stroller and was essentially unhurt; however, he too was transported by park ambulance to the center for precautionary medical care. Rangers then located M.B.'s husband, Mi.B., who was at their campsite in the Gros Ventre Campground and brought him to the hospital. M.B. was flown early Sunday afternoon to Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls for additional medical care. Both M.B. and Davis were traveling westbound on the Gros Ventre Road when the accident occurred. Davis was estimated to have been traveling about 45 miles per hour, which is the speed limit on that road segment. She was issued a citation and a mandatory court appearance as a result of the accident. [Jackie Skaggs, Public Affairs Officer] National Capital Parks East Two Die In Accident In Fort Dupont Park The Park Police were notified of a single-vehicle accident at Fort Davis Drive near Massachusetts Avenue just after 8 p.m. on July 13th. Officers found that a Ford pickup had been heading east on Carpenter Street when the driver, P.B., 48, failed to negotiate a turn in the road. The truck went through some woods, then rolled over in a grassy area in Fort Dupont Park. The passenger in the truck, R.B., 51, was pronounced dead at the scene. P.B. was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. Speed and alcohol were determined to have been contributing factors in the crash. [Sergeant Robert Lachance, Public Information Officer] Natchez Trace Parkway Taser Employed During Drug Arrest Ranger Brent Mahle stopped a car for speeding at milepost 219 on the afternoon of Sunday, July 15th. The driver had no license and no insurance. Following issuance of citations, Mahle was granted consent to search the vehicle. Two other officers who were passing by - one from the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the other from Chickasaw County - stopped to assist. The two male passengers were instructed to get out of the vehicle. One of them, R.N., 18, appeared nervous and had an unusual bulge in his pants. When Mahle began to frisk him, R.N. pulled away and fled on foot into the woods. Male repeatedly ordered him to stop, but he continued to run. Mahle then used his taser on R.N. and took him into custody R.N. was found to have two ounces of marijuana hidden in his pants. Charges are pending.
