Man Fails In Suicide Attempt
On September 16th, ranger received a report that a man was having a seizure at the Long View overlook. When they arrived on scene, they found an unconscious and unresponsive man lying face down near the picnic area. Advanced life support was provided by ranger/paramedic Tod Austin, and the man was flown to a local hospital by Mercy Air 11. Subsequent investigation revealed that he'd tried to hang himself from the shade structure in the picnic area, but that the knot had come undone when he jumped from the picnic table.
