INCIDENTS

Hot Springs NP

Driver Arrested For Methamphetamine Paraphernalia Possession

Ranger James Latendresse stopped a Dodge truck that was being driven erratically on Gorge Road on Wednesday, November 19th. When he approached the truck, he noted narcotics paraphernalia consistent with methamphetamine manufacture in the truck bed. When Latendresse contacted the driver, he also saw that there was an ephedrine pill soak in plain view on the truck's center console. The operator was arrested and a local drug task force called in to process the scene. The driver was charged by task force officers with possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class B felony. A criminal history run on the operator revealed numerous prior drug convictions, both misdemeanors and felonies. This was the 36th methamphetamine drug bust in Garland County this year. Natchez Trace Parkway

One Killed, One Injured In Single-Vehicle Accident

The park received a report of a serious accident near milepost 259 around 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 20th. J.F., 28, of Belden, Mississippi, who was evidently the driver of a 1995 Toyota Avalon headed north on the parkway, was killed in the accident and her passenger, B.B., 33, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, was injured. He was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment, then released. Finney apparently lost control of the Toyota, which crossed over the southbound lane and struck bridge railings. [Calvin Farmer]
