The White House - In a White House ceremony on Wednesday, President Obama announced the Administration's America's Great Outdoors Initiative, a plan to reconnect American's to the outdoors, empower communities to accomplish local conservation and recreation goals, and align federal programs to maximize efficiencies and eliminate barriers among programs that support conservation efforts.


Workforce Management - Open season for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program will be from April 4th to June 24th -- its first open season since 2002.


Upper Delaware S&RR - Joseph Hinkes has been named the chief ranger for Upper Delaware. He will move upstream from Delaware Water Gap NRA, where he has served as a ranger since 1999.


Pacific West Region - Sonya Capek, Pacific West Region's environmental and youth programs coordinator, will be retiring on March 3rd following 31 years of government service. Photo.


Upcoming Training and Conference Calendar - A compilation of upcoming training courses and conferences across the nation through the end of 2011, plus online training.  Added to this week's calendar are the following - five new TEL broadcasts, a workshop on the fundamentals of serving as a park structural fire coordinator, three new FLETC offerings, a course on the preservation and treatment of park cultural resources, and a COR refresher course.
