San Francisco Maritime NHP - Enthusiastic families packed the park's visitor center on the morning of Saturday, February 19th, to participate in San Francisco Maritime's very first celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.


Fire and Aviation Management - Thirty-three new stories were submitted to the Department of the Interior in support of fire and fuels management in the national parks. Photo.


Shenandoah NP - The Smith Run Fire, which began on February 19th, has burned about 2,000 acres and has not changed in size over the last two days. It's 80% contained.


Legislative and Congressional Affairs - Rose Fennell and Jacque Lavelle were selected in December as the National Park Service's Bevinetto Congressional Fellows for 2011-2012. Photo.


Alaska Region - Frank Hays is heading for Kotzebue, Alaska, where he will take over as superintendent of four National Park Service areas. Photo.


Servicewide Training and Conference Calendar - A compilation of upcoming training courses and conferences across the nation through the end of 2011, plus online training.  Added to this week's calendar are the following - five new FLETC courses, two FACA training courses in Washington, a NAGPRA course in Philadelphia, family liaison officer training at the Grand Canyon, a class in New York City on restoration of cast and wrought iron, and an LE refresher at Zion.
