President Obama has recognized the event with a Presidential Proclamation, issued this past Friday. The text of the proclamation and relevant National Park Week links are included. Office of Communications - Director Jarvis announced a major new Servicewide healthy foods strategy at the Healthy Parks Healthy People US conference held recently at Golden Gate NRA. Fort Sumter NM - Social media used during the first signature event of the Civil War sesquicentennial commemoration at Fort Sumter proved highly successful in providing hundreds of photos, videos, events, and historical information to the public and news outlets around the world. Photo. Legislative and Congressional Affairs - This week's update on past and upcoming hearings and the status of legislation pertinent to the NPS. Eleven new Park Service-related bills were introduced last week, including Senate and House bills that would establish Waco Mammoth NM in Texas. NPS Alumni - Patricia Ann Tolle, retired Everglades public affairs officer and member of the first NPS national incident management team, passed away on April 11th at her home in Gassville, Arkansas.
