Office of Communications - Over the course of two days during the last week of January, more than 350 national park enthusiasts and advocates assembled in Washington for America's Summit on National Parks, a look ahead to the upcoming National Park Service centennial.


Lassen Volcanic NP - Last month, the park was transformed into an outdoor laboratory for high school juniors and seniors involved in the astrobiology student intern program, which provides opportunities for local students to work with NPS staff and scientists from NASA's Astrobiology Institute at the Ames Research Center.


Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs - This week's update on past and upcoming hearings, newly introduced bills, and the status of legislation of interest to the National Park Service. This report covers activities during the week ending on February 10th.


Canaveral NS - Ranger Ben Hansel has become the first known civilian pilot to fly in restricted air space over the park's South District and Kennedy Space Center's Space Shuttle Landing Facility. The South District was closed to air traffic during NASA's space shuttle program.


NPS Alumni - Retired NPS contract specialist Wendy Mann passed away on February 6th after a four-month-long fight with cancer.
