NATIONAL PARK SERVICE MORNING REPORT Tuesday, February 14, 2012 INCIDENTS Saguaro NP Motorcyclist Killed In Head-On Collision On the afternoon of February 10th, a Harley Davidson collided head-on with a pickup truck on Sandario Road, killing the motorcycle's operator, a 36-year-old airman from Davis Monthan Air Force Base. He was heading northbound on the road when he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with the southbound pickup. Picture Rocks Fire Department paramedics conducted CPR at the scene before the man was flown by Lifenet helicopter to University Medical Center trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead. The elderly couple in the truck were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. Office of Communications - President Obama's FY 2013 budget, released yesterday, requests $2.6 billion to support the Service's critical national recreation, preservation and conservation mission. Geologic Resources Division - The Geologic Resources Division has issued a call for project proposals from NPS units and central offices for fall/winter 2012 Geoscientists-in-the-Parks positions. NPS LETC - An advisory has been issued on possibly defective ammunition following an injury inflicted on a ranger during weapons training. Particulars on the type of ammunition and the action to be taken are provided.
