Northeast Region - Although the blizzard that blasted the Northeast over the weekend brought up to 40 inches of snow to some locations and storm surge and hurricane force winds to others, parks throughout the region got through the storm relatively unscathed.


Visitor and Resource Protection - The NPS will be renewing several special park use application forms this June and seeking approval for two additional forms. Input is being sought from the field on these draft forms.


Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs - This week's update on past and upcoming hearings, newly introduced bills, and the status of legislation of interest to the National Park Service. This report covers the week ending on Friday, February 8th.


Pictured Rocks NL - Gregg Bruff, chief of heritage education and cultural resources at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, will retire on February 22nd after a 37 year career with the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service. 


Golden Gate NRA - Retired ranger Robert W. Cheung died on the afternoon of February 3rd, one day before his 69th birthday. Bob battled cancer for almost a year and was in a hospice care center surrounded by his family and close friends when he peacefully slipped away.


Yellowstone NP - Retired Yellowstone backcountry ranger and long-time park volunteer Robert W. “Bob” Flather passed away on Sunday, January 27th, in Santa Barbara, California.
