Man Arrested For Rape In Park Picnic Area

On the evening of Monday, February 4th, a sexual assault occurred in the park's picnic area. An investigation was conducted jointly by rangers and the local township police department after the victim reported that she had been raped at gunpoint in the picnic area. The woman knew her assailant. She reported that she had picked him up at a local shopping mall and was forced to drive to the park where the assault occurred. An Altoona man was arrested, arraigned, charged with numerous felony offenses, and locked up in the Cambria County jail on Tuesday morning. [Thomas Stinedurf, Chief Ranger/Unit Manager]
