INCIDENTS

Fort Donelson NB

Suicide Victim Found In Park

A park staff member who was off duty and showing the park to out-of-town guests came upon a pickup truck parked at the Graves Battery area in Fort Donelson. The person behind the wheel did not respond to efforts to revive him, so the park employee contacted the Stewart County Sheriff's Office via 911. Protection rangers and county EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene. The person in the vehicle, a 38-year-old local Dover resident, had succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Park law enforcement and the Stewart County coroner investigated the death. He'd been suffering from physical and mental health issues. [Michael Manning, Chief Ranger]
