Office of Communications - The National Park Service will honor all military veterans with special events and free entrance to all 401 national parks for everyone during the Veterans Day weekend, which will take place from November 9th through November 11th.
Office of Communications - Director Jarvis hosted his second national webchat on October 22nd in order to answer your questions about the shutdown and other Servicewide issues. The video and transcription are now available on line.
Whiskeytown NRA - Whiskeytown National Recreation Area held a sunrise celebration at Whiskeytown Dam on the very spot where President Kennedy spoke to some 10,000 visitors 50 years ago on September 28, 1963.
Dayton Aviation Heritage NHP - In response to the Call to Action item “Eat Well and Prosper,” two rangers have created park flower and organic vegetable gardens that next summer will include art produced by local elementary school students.
Carlsbad Caverns NP - Dennis Vásquez, superintendent of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, will also be managing Carlsbad Caverns National Park while on a 120-day detail to the latter.
Southeast Region - Margarett Rich, a human resources specialist in Southeast Region, is retiring on November 30th after 20 years with the National Park Service.
