Natural Resource Stewardship and Science - The new State of the Park reporting effort, launched in October 2012, is well on the way to meeting or exceeding the target of having 50 reports done by the Service's centennial in 2016.
Gulf Islands NS - A large dilapidated barge which had languished for 40 years in the sparkling and clear shallow waters of a wilderness island within the park was removed in an effort that spanned the last two weeks of September.
Fire Islands NS - Paula Valentine will leave her position as public affairs specialist at Fire Island National Seashore at the end of November, bringing to a close a career with the NPS that has spanned nearly four decades.
Southeast Region - Tommy Jones, historian and Section 106/110 compliance coordinator for Southeast Region since 2001, retired from federal service on September 30th.
National Capital Region - A group of over 30 employees from parks and offices in Northeast Region, National Capital Region, and the Washington Office completed the “Run for the Parks” 10K on November 3rd.
