Padre Island NS - On December 4th, National Park Service staff helped release 20 green sea turtles into the Gulf of Mexico surf at Padre Island National Seashore. The turtles had been found cold stunned over the last week in November after the passage of a severe cold front.
Public Health Office - The National Park Service's One Health program is producing a newsletter with updates on recent developments and topics of interest. The fall 2013 edition is now out.
Northeast Region - Mary Pearson-Cooper, deputy comptroller for Northeast Region, will retire at the end of this year following 43 years with the federal government, 18 of those years with the National Park Service.
Virgin Islands NP - Deputy Superintendent Mike Anderson is set to retire on January 3rd after more than 34 years with the National Park Service.
Intermountain Region - Larry Turk, a 14-year veteran of the National Park Service, has been named the new superintendent of Chaco Culture National Historical Park and Aztec Ruins National Monument.
