OTHER NEWS The following stories are among those in today's webpage editions of InsideNPS (available to NPS employees only) and the Morning Report (available to all readers): Golden Gate NRA - Muir Beach and the mouth of Redwood Creek have recently gone through a major transformation. Through the efforts of many applied sciences and the work of staff and volunteers over the past five years, the creek's connection to its natural channel and floodplain have been restored. Air Resources Division - A study of mercury in fish in 21 national parks in ten western states has revealed elevated levels in some instances. The NPS is currently coordinating with state officials regarding potential fish consumption advisories. Wilderness Stewardship - This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. A toolbox with four free products to help commemorate this event is now available for use in parks and programs throughout the country. United States Park Police - This week - April 13th through April 19th - has been designated as National Telecommunicators' Week, a time when the work of law enforcement and emergency service dispatchers is recognized. Office of Communications - The Arlington National Cemetery Historic District, which includes the famed military cemetery among a total of 69 contributing features, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, Northeast Region - James Comiskey has been named division chief for the Northeast Region's inventory and monitoring program. He assumed his new duties on April 20th. Denver Service Center - After 35 years with the National Park Service, Patrick Macdonald has announced that he will retire on May 2nd. Patrick is a project manager with DSC's Design and Construction Division.
